U.S. EPA regulations require that Federal agencies meet the requirements of the Historic Sites Act of 1935, the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act, and Executive Order 11593 entitled Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment. The National Historic Preservation Act requires that Federal agencies establish an historic preservation program for the identification and protection of historic properties under their jurisdiction and ensure that they are managed and maintained in a way that considers their historic and cultural values. Historic properties currently identified at SSC include Gainesville, Logtown, and the Test Stands.
