Three test stands at SSC, known as Rocket Propulsion Test Complexes A-1, A-2, and B-1/B-2 have been designated as National Historic Landmarks and appear on the National Register of Historic Places. The test stands and associated control centers have been designated because of their importance in the testing of Saturn rockets, and the importance of the Saturn rocket in landing men on the moon. Activities in the Testing Complex, including demolition, dismantling, relocation, or removal of significant elements that contribute to the National Landmark status, require consultation with the Mississippi State Historic Preservation Office.
